I would invest in the RT Systems software, skip the cabe and use the SD card option. Pricey, but it works. I have an FT70 and an FT2. Both Chirp and the Yaesu freeware failed on the FT70. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).
