The Qt5 TextEdit seems to support tables. It should work fine for macOS (with Cocoa used). So, if Linux with Gtk2 is desired, you might want to try KMemo instead. Copy/Paste OK with all formatting attributes. But after closing the app (after the button procedure) the clipboard looks empty: no way to paste the text elsewhere. It doesn't (and it seems like it won't) have any abilities to make the text flow around the image.
