Webb5 sep. 2024 · Rays and skates are dorsoventrally flattened fish that are closely related to sharks. All are considered to be within a closely related group of fish called elasmobranchs.Rays belong to three scientific orders – Pristiformes, Myliobatiformes, and Torpediniformes while skates are classified in the order Rajiformes. WebbFurthermore, the anatomy, physiology and function of different organs will be studied in detail, including dissections of sharks and skates. This also contains an aging module where students will learn how to age elasmobranchs. Current threats, the status and tools for protection of this group will be discussed in detail.
